National nursery awards winners!

November 27th, 2017 by Sarah Steel

Huge congratulations go to 2 of our staff team today, as they were both winners at the national Nursery Management Today awards on Saturday night. Julie Rees and Nikki Moran had both been shortlisted and interviewed at a judging day last month, and went to a Gala Dinner at the Hilton Metropole where they were both announced as winners of their categories. Julie (from our Innsworth Nursery) won Nursery Manager of the Year and Nikki (from our Faringdon Nursery) was chosen as Room Leader of the Year, for her role running a very busy pre-school room.

Judges said that they were impressed with how Nikki encouraged independence amongst the children in her room, and that Julie inspired her team and offered them outstanding training and continuous professional development opportunities. Managing Director, Sarah Steel, said, ‘It was an amazing night for The Old Station Nursery and I was thrilled for both Nikki and Julie. They work so hard every day to offer the best experiences for young children and it is really great to see this recognised nationally.’

The awards were presented by TV presenter, Ben Fogle, who congratulated them both on their success. They will both be back to work as usual this morning, but hopefully with a lot of congratulations from staff, parents and children!

2 new sites for the New Year!

November 22nd, 2017 by Sarah Steel

We are delighted that we will be opening in Bampton, Oxfordshire, in the old Willow Tree Children’s Centre next to the primary school at the beginning of January. Our Faringdon Manager, Steph, will be overseeing the project and is already taking enquiries from prospective parents. As if that didn’t sound busy enough, we are also opening a new nursery at Heyford Park, near Bicester in February, under the TLC of our Ops Manager, Emma, and again, she has been talking to parents in the area as we finalise the plans. If you would like information about either of these sites, either as a parent or a prospective staff member, please drop Emma an email to emma@theoldstationnursery.co.uk or give Steph a call at Faringdon on 01367 243800.

2 of our team are finalists in national awards

September 24th, 2017 by Sarah Steel

We are delighted to hear that 2 of our team have been shortlisted as national finalists in the Nursery Management Today awards. Julie Rees (Innsworth nursery manager) has been chosen as one the best Nursery Managers in the UK, and Nikki Moran (Faringdon Pre-School Leader) has been chosen as one of the best Room Supervisors.

Both ladies will attend a judging day and interviews in London in the next couple of weeks, and the awards will be announced at a Gala Dinner in London on 25th November at the London Hilton Metropole.

It was a complete suprise for both finalists, who were nominated by colleagues, parents, educational support workers and the children themselves. We will keep you posted with the outcome in November, but for now, a huge ‘Well done!’ to them both and all their colleagues who support them in their outstanding work.

Mottershead Drive Open Day Saturday 23rd September

September 20th, 2017 by Sarah Steel

We have had a really busy summer in Innsworth, refurbishing the old nursery site at Mottershead Drive, a stone’s throw from our main Innsworth nursery. We are really excited to be having an Open Morning this Saturday from 10 until 12, when parents and friends are invited to come and have a look around. There have been some major changes! The nursery will be overseen by our fantastic manager at Innsworth, Julie Rees, and the deputy manager for the new nursery will be Emily Parslow, our current Lead Practitioner. Emily is a qualified Early Years Teacher (QTS) and will be joined by Sammi Wood, also an Early Years Teacher, who has been a stalwart of our Toddler room at Innsworth. Do come and have a look around and say hello!

Innsworth nursery is expanding!

July 24th, 2017 by Sarah Steel

We are very excited to have signed the lease today for the old Noah’s Ark Nursery site just around the corner from our Innsworth Nursery in Gloucestershire. We have a major refurbishment starting later this week and the new nursery will open in September, operating closely with our existing nursery. Julie Rees, our outstanding nursery manager, will oversee both sites, ably supported by Amy Barwick as deputy manager in the existing nursery and Emily Parslow and deputy manager of the new Mottershead Drive site. We will let you know as soon as we’re ready for visitors!
