MD wins Nursery Sector Champion Award

Nursery Sector Champion - Sarah Steel

Managing Director of The Old Station Nursery Group, Sarah Steel, has been honoured with the prestigious title of National Day Nursery Association (NDNA) Nursery Sector Champion 2014.


As the owner of a group of nurseries located across the South West region, Sarah’s outstanding commitment to supporting others in the childcare sector has earned her this accolade, which was sponsored by employment law specialists, Citation.

The award was presented to Sarah during a glamorous ceremony held at NDNA’s Manchester conference in June, where she was joined by original Calendar Girl Tricia Stewart. Purnima Tanuku OBE, the Chief Executive of NDNA, congratulated Sarah on her well-deserved recognition, highlighting her exceptional contributions that go beyond expectations to benefit the sector.

Expressing her delight, Sarah Steel remarked, “Being named NDNA Nursery Sector Champion is truly thrilling. The Early Years Sector plays a vital role in the lives of children and families, and it is a great honour to be nominated by my peers for this distinction.”

Sarah’s tireless advocacy for the sector is evident through her active involvement with NDNA’s National Policy committee, where she represents members’ viewpoints through various media channels, including radio and television interviews. She also champions the use of social media to engage the entire sector and foster collaboration.
